We worship by praising God, listening to his word, offering prayers and celebrating the sacraments. We vary the format and the style of our services, and while we believe that music enhances our worship experience, we do not come to church to be entertained.
There are two main books we utilize in our service for worship. The red “Book of Common Prayer” and the blue “The Hymnal – 1982”. We also use a supplemental hymnal, “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. All can be found in the pew book racks.
The weekly service bulletin contains the prayer book selections, the hymns and the weekly scripture readings compiled in one convenient place, as well as general announcements.
In general, we stand to sing and to hear the gospel, we sit to hear other scripture readings and the sermon, and we kneel to pray. Feel free to join in, or not, as you are comfortable and able.
The altar is God’s holy table, not ours. If you are here to worship your God, and you wish to receive communion, please join us, remembering that Christ himself invited us to do this in his memory.
